Challenges faced

This is not the first time that the staff members of an educational institution address dbForge tools to help make their routine database management fast and simple, which, in turn, gives them an opportunity to dedicate more time and effort to their core tasks. Such is the story of Danijel Mlinarić, a Postdoctoral Researcher at FER, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at the University of Zagreb. He was in search of a GUI tool for PostgreSQL databases, which would be as easy-to-use as Microsoft SSMS, boast high performance, and offer a fair share of tools for visual database management.

01
Slow access to databases
02
Limited functionality of free PostgreSQL tools
03
Lack of tools for coding-free database management

The solution was found in dbForge Studio for PostgreSQL. Danijel noted the Studio's simple GUI, fast response, and, no less importantly, cost-effectiveness.

"We needed a database IDE for Postgres which would be similar to the MS SQL Server Management Studio, and dbForge was just what we were looking for. It's the best possible GUI for creating/modifying database objects and building complex SQL queries."

Results achieved

+100%
daily productivity

With dbForge Studio at hand, it became far easier to optimize recurring work with databases and free up lots of time for other daily tasks. According to Danijel, the Studio more or less doubled his productivity and thus proved to be a valuable investment. Here are some of the features that he found to be most useful.

Key features Danijel is excited about

GUI-powered Data Editor

The first major feature noted by Danijel is the integrated Data Editor, which allows performing a variety of manipulations with data directly in the grid. You can view, sort, group, filter, and edit data in Grid View and Card View modes, as well as split data into a specified number of pages, if necessary.

IntelliSense-like code completion

dbForge Studio for PostgreSQL boasts a wide range of advanced coding assistance features, which comprise context-aware code completion and relevant database object suggestions, a library of predefined and custom snippets, instant syntax validation, and a smart PostgreSQL code formatter.

Generation of SQL scripts on database objects

Using dbForge Studio, you can auto-generate DDL scripts for database objects of various types, including views, materialized views, functions, triggers, trigger functions, and stored procedures. To do that, right-click the required object in Database Explorer, go to Generate Script As > CREATE, and then select whether you want to copy the script to clipboard, save it to a file, or open it in a new SQL document.
